Performance

ENCORE!

With pianist Daniel Bowater: www.danielbowatermusic.com

For several years we've been bringing some of the best-loved chansons populaires to venues in the north of England (Georgian Theatre Richmond, York Theatre Royal, Theatre By The Lake in Keswick etc) and going down a storm!

From the more and less familiar songs of Piaf (La Vie en Rose, Padam...) and poetry of Brel (Ne me quitte pas, Amsterdam), to the stunning though less well-known tunes of Moustaki, Léo Ferré, Barbara and Brassens ...

Maggi somehow gets inside the song – lives it and loves it.

A beautiful and amazing performance.

It's fabulous to hear an English woman singing these masterpieces of

French chansons populaires so perfectly!

A wonderfully evocative and moving evening.

Information for venues

With Encore! we immediately knew we were in safe hands.  – venue organiser

  • ENCORE! is at home performing at theatres, arts centres and festivals as well as in more intimate spaces which allow for a French cabaret ambiance. Some venues create an entire French soirée with food and wine alongside the music. We are also happy performing in restaurants, and for private parties, weddings etc.

  • We've been playing to 70–100% capacity in small scale touring venues from arts centres to theatres to village halls.

A great evening and a very well-organised pair. Thankyou.

Schools and colleges

The show is also suitable for students studying for A-level French and beyond. They get so much enjoyment from hearing the language in the context of song and performance.

We brought 19 sixth-formers and they all thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Bravo et merci– Esther Saurel, head of French, The Grammar School at Leeds

Maggi's translations gave those of us with schoolgirl French the opportunity to understand the beauty of Brel’s poetry – Student
